EPISODE RESOURCES

JEAN DRUMMOND

Jean Drummond began her successful, award-winning healthcare consultant firm 31 years ago with $400.00 and her mother’s credit card. Coming from a long line of “fem-trepreneurs” in her family—both her mother and grandmother owned their own businesses—Jean was surrounded by powerful role models that would later inspire her to begin her own healthcare policy business.

She graduated from Howard State University as a Physician’s Assistant where she witnessed the impact of health inequities daily. This became her driving motivator, and she soon found herself advocating for the vulnerable populations she served. This included running a PR campaign to prevent the closure of a minority-oriented healthcare program. She knew that she was being called to a higher purpose and wanted to advance her community in meaningful ways.

All of her experiences led her to establish Healthcare Dynamics International, a national quality improvement and population health firm that has been recognized by the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services for its achievements as a prime contractor. From one employee with $400.00 and her mother’s credit card, HCD International has grown to a thriving business with over 200 employees from 20 different countries that speak 23 unique languages.

During the global COVID-19 pandemic, Jean has remained fearlessly committed to quality healthcare and health equity for all, especially the most vulnerable. Supporting health partners and agencies, HCDI has helped to provide over 59,000 vaccinations to local communities, administered over 15,000 COVID-19 tests, and supported the contact tracing effort, leading to over 250,000 closed cases.
